7 Review Request Text Message Templates That Actually Get Replies

BossProWebsites · Reviews & Reputation · September 18, 2025

You know you need more Google reviews. You even know you should be texting the link to customers right after the job. But then you sit there staring at your phone trying to figure out what to actually type — and before you know it the moment has passed.

Stop writing from scratch every time. Below are seven copy-paste templates you can send immediately after any service job. Each one is short, natural, and designed to get a reply. Just swap in the customer’s name and your review link and hit send.

A quick note on why text beats email: open rates for text messages sit around 98%, versus 20–30% for email. For a review request, you want to reach the customer when they’re still in the happy moment right after your job is done. Text gets there. Email often doesn’t.

Template 1: The Simple & Grateful

“Hi [Name]! Thanks so much for having [Company] out today — it was a pleasure working with you. If you have 60 seconds, a Google review really helps our small business: [link]. No pressure at all, just appreciate you thinking of us!”

This is your workhorse template. It’s warm, it acknowledges the customer by name, and the “no pressure” line paradoxically increases conversions because it removes any guilt from not responding.

Template 2: The Social Proof Frame

“Hey [Name], hope everything looks great! We’re a small local crew and most of our work comes through word of mouth. If you’re happy with the job, leaving us a quick Google review goes a long way: [link]. Thanks so much either way!”

Mentioning that you’re local and rely on word of mouth activates the customer’s desire to support their community. It reframes the review not as a favor to you, but as supporting a local business they already chose.

Template 3: The Specific Callback

“Hi [Name] — [Tech Name] said you were really happy with the [specific work, e.g. ‘new water heater install’] today. That’s awesome to hear! If you get a minute, we’d love a Google review: [link]. Really means a lot to the whole team.”

Personalizing the message with the specific job makes it clear this isn’t a bulk text blast. It shows you paid attention. That authenticity makes customers far more likely to actually click the link.

Template 4: The Team Shout-Out

“Hi [Name]! [Tech Name] just wrapped up at your place and said you were great to work with. We always love hearing that! If you have a sec, a Google review helps us keep bringing on great customers like you: [link]. Thanks!”

This one works especially well when you have crews in the field. It ties the review request back to a specific person who did the work, which makes the message feel personal rather than automated — even if you do eventually automate it.

Template 5: The Follow-Up (48 Hours Later)

“Hey [Name], just circling back on that review link I sent! Totally understand if you’re busy. Here it is again in case it got buried: [link]. We really appreciate your support — hope you’re loving the [work done]!”

One follow-up is always fair game. Customers genuinely do forget. A friendly reminder sent 48–72 hours after the initial text will recover a portion of the reviews that would otherwise slip through the cracks. Don’t send more than one follow-up.

Template 6: The Milestone Ask

“Hi [Name]! This is [Your Name] from [Company]. You’ve been a customer of ours for [X years] now and we’re so grateful for your continued trust. If you ever have a moment, sharing your experience on Google would mean the world to us: [link]. Thank you!”

Long-term customers are your most credible reviewers, and they often haven’t been asked because they’ve been around since before you built the habit. Send this to your loyalty list — customers who’ve had 3 or more jobs with you in the last year. Their reviews often include rich detail that boosts your local SEO significantly.

Template 7: The Referral & Review Combo

“Hi [Name] — so glad the job went smoothly today! Two quick ways you can help us grow if you’re happy: (1) drop us a Google review here [link], and (2) if you know anyone who needs [service], we’d love the referral. Thanks so much!”

Pairing the review ask with a referral mention doesn’t dilute either request — it actually frames both as ways the customer can help a business they like. Use this one selectively on your highest-satisfaction customers.

Tips for Sending These Templates Effectively

The One Thing That Kills Review Rates

The number-one reason service businesses don’t get reviews isn’t customer unwillingness — it’s waiting too long to ask. Every hour that passes after a job is completed, the customer’s satisfaction is still there but their motivation to act on it fades. By the next morning, leaving a review has mentally moved from “I should do that” to “I’ll get to it,” which usually means never.

Pick one of the templates above and send it within 30 minutes of your next job. See what happens. Most owners are surprised by how quickly customers respond when the message is personal and the link is right there in front of them.
